We had a group of 49 attend Yolo Basin Foundation's Bat Talk and Walk. It is a must see! We got up close to live bats and learned everything you need to know about bats. Then we took a drive to see the bats fly out at dusk. Amazing! To top off the night, we watched a falcon get a bat from the sky. Thank you Gary Funk for that awesome picture! Thank you to Corky Quirk and her team of volunteers for a wonderful tour.

A sunny Saturday on August 12th at Donner Lake with a sensible 69 ℃ water temperature made for a very nice 2.7-mile swim for SACMA’s 24 registered swimmers, second only to the event’s host team! Congratulations to all our swimmers for their hard-earned times and there’s always next year for achieving a new personal best. Notable mentions go to Laura Gonzalez Ospina, Stephanie Curtis, and Justin Lomas who each took a spot in the top 3 of their respective age group brackets. Congrats, everyone! On June 24th, we enjoyed food trucks, beer, and hometown pride. Sac Republic Soccer team beats San Antonio 3-1. We had the lead early on when we scored a penalty shot. Then we had another goal before halftime. San Antonio scored one in the second half but then 2 of their players were ejected near the end of the game. We finished the game with one more penalty shot into the goal. What an exciting game!

Sacramento was well represented by 12 swimmers at the Lake Berryessa race on Saturday, 06/03! Clear skies and temperatures in the high 80's made for a very cool and refreshing swim. This event marked the first open water race of 2023 for most of us as well as some other notable firsts. This was Val's FIRST-EVER open water swim event and she knocked it out of the park! She indicated that she would want to do more in the future. Saturday's race was also Monica Carter's first open water race...
